Finally, it’s that time of year again, where I’m blessed to celebrate another year of life. Born on the summer solstice, I begin my celebration at a summer BBQ on Father’s Day. My Dad bought a cake for me and my family sang an early happy birthday. A great way to begin my birthday weekend.  The ultimate family hangout night.

My Birthday Weekend: Great Brooklyn Hangouts

So Tuesday on my birthday, I was treated to a nice dinner in Williamsburg at Sugarburg. We spend the night trying a few of their signature dishes. It’s really easy to fall into the vibe. They also have some really tasty cocktails at Sugarburg. I love the decor! We’ll definitely go back for Brunch.

Also, Friday night, I continue celebrating with my girls. We head to Brooklyn Bridge Promenade to skate for the Michael Jackson tribute. Sadly I didn’t purchase advanced tickets and the event was sold out!  Dropped the ball there. Despite the change in plans we make the best of our night walking around the new and improved area. We literally haven’t hung around Brooklyn Bridge Park since our college days and boy has it changed. We stop at a little quaint outdoor restaurant for some drinks and girl talk. Then watch the sunset while admiring the NYC skyline. Love these chicks!

While, Saturday I meet up with friends and family for a bottomless brunch at a spot in Brooklyn called Randolph’s. They have an unlimited 90 minute drinks brunch. It is only $37. It includes one entree and your choice of unlimited pitcher cocktails, beers, mimosas and bellinis. We go through quite a few pitchers and were pretty tipsy by the end of our meal. We sit talking for another hour and decide to continue the party at my friend’s Jasz house.

Finally, Sunday, my cousins and I head to the 2nd annual Curl Festival in Prospect Park. So many beautiful people of color with varying hair textures embracing their beauty and enjoying the beautiful day! There’s a live DJ, free hair product samples, live hair demos and vendors selling cool merchandise and food. The positive energy is a great way to wind down an amazing birthday. It’s a must try event! I hope to see you there next year embracing your natural beauty.

Overall, I had an awesome birthday weekend and am blessed to be full of life and loved. God willing, next year’s adventures will be just as great  as these Brooklyn hangouts if not better!
